Packing Up the Truck!

Today we finished packing up the truck. We picked up the truck on Tuesday morning giving us 2 days to get everything packed. My parents and Rebekah came over and helped pack the last of the house and more than half the truck. They were a big help. We stopped at 5pm to get dinner and it started raining about 6pm. We had finished for the day just in time. My grandad came up from Montgomery for one last visit and say "goodbye" again.

Today was just Nate, my mom and I. The 3 of us have finished everything else. Now I am taking a few minutes to relax and maybe a nap before the kids get home. After school we will make the rounds to all the family in the area and say one last goodbye. My mom is the only person "brave enough" to come say goodbye before 6am on Thursday.

Nate's parents are coming for dinner and to say goodbye.

Thankfully the dogs are out of "heat" and I have the benedryl ready for the drive, along with snacks, COKES, and lots of cd's. My Kindle is about to get a lot of use because I am going to let it read to me for the next 3 days.

Please pray for our safe trip. We will be staying in OKC Thursday night, Flagstaff, Arizona Friday and night and hopefully in our own apartment on Sat night.

NEW ADDRESS!

Today we signed the lease agreement on our Apartment/Condo in Huntington Beach. We are so excited that we have an address and "leave" date. We are very thankful to God for helping lead us through this stressful ordeal of securing the apartment via 2 hour time zone and 2,000 miles.

Tomorrow will be both mine and Nate's last day at work. We are both ready to leave our jobs and move on.

Our new address is 16851 Grunion Lane #101 Huntington Beach, CA 92649 and our family will be leaving B'ham on Thursday morning May 27th. Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we pack up, say goodbye to family and friends, and drive 2,000 miles to our new home.

My 1st Tears

I know I just posted about our big fun family weekend but this one deserved its own post.

As I said goodbye to my little nephews tonight, I cried my first set of tears. As most of you know, I am not a crier and it takes a lot for me to show that emotion. My tears are more out of anger that any other emotions.

Saying goodbye and knowing how much bigger they will be the next time I see them just brought tears to my eyes and I practically ran out the door to get home. Saying goodbye to adults I do not see all the time was not as hard this weekend as it was to say bye to the little boys. Lucas will get to stay at my moms from now on when he comes to visit. Alex n Eggroll will be back at Christmas but I know from watching my own kids, these 3 boys will grow up fast.

I am sure there will be more tears as we have less that 2 weeks till we move......these just caught me by surprise.

~ Family Goodbye Weekend (#1) ~

This weekend was the "goodbye" party for my family and some of my kids friends.

The fun started on Friday when my brother, Daniel and his family came to town. We also picked up my oldest nephew, Lucas for the weekend. Friday night we had dinner at my house with Daniel's family and my Parents. Alex (age 2) was at my house 10 mins before he pulled a cabinet on top of himself with an Xbox 360 and some games on top of it. Alex was just scared, the xbox is okay and cabinet has been fixed. Moving on with the evening, I kept Lucas (age 2 1/2) and Alex plus my kids for the night.

Early Saturday morning, I was awakened by Joel because the boys were all awake and hungry for a snack. Alex was soaking wet and needed a change and Lucas was "starving". So I made breakfast and the day began.

We added 6 more kids to the mix and about 30 adults. My house and yard were rocking by 3pm with a party. My Aunt pulled out the "slip n slide" and the kids played for hours. Alex wore out 2 diapers with all his running up n down the slide. We enjoyed taco salad and cokes. Later that evening we played a couple of games of Settlers, cities n knights.

On to Sunday morning, Cori n Joel each had a friend spend the night as well as Lucas still being here. At 1:47am Joel came to tell me that Lucas, Tate and him were awake. I put on a Scooby-Doo movie hoping that all 3 would fall back to sleep.....that did not happen, at 4am, I took Lucas to the couch with me and the other two boys went back to sleep. At 6am, I got Lucas back to sleep on the couch.....this is where Nate fould me (asleep). I was able to go back to bed for a couple of hours while everyone slept....

After everyone was up and dressed, Cori and Libby took Lucas outside to play. 5 min later Cori came running in the house to tell me Lucas was running around naked in the front yard. He wanted to play in the slin n slide so he had taken all his clothes off so he would not get his clothes wet. Smart little boy!

Joel's friend Tate drove Joel's bike into the lake after lunch.

Weekend summary ~ fun, family, friends, love, laughter, naked babies, crying babies, Settlers ~ City and Knights, falls, water, slides, pictures, bikes in lakes, bug bites, birthdays, lots of diaper changes, lots of Tylenol, hair cuts, and saying goodbye.

Wonderful memories were made this weekend! Thanks to all the friends and family who came this weekend.

2 Work Weeks Left

Nate and I have 2 weeks left of work. Then it will be crunch time for us to get all the packing done. We are suppose to be receiving our lease agreement today. Then I can start my address changes.

This weekend my kids are staying with my Grandaddy (their great-grandad) in Montgomery. Nate is going golfing with his dad and I am spending Saturday at home packing and "being by myself" for the day. This is a great way to spend Mother's Day weekend.

Welcome to The Barber's

This is my first blog so I hope that I can keep up with it on a regular basis.

Nate and I and our kids are packing up the house and moving to Huntington Beach, CA. We are really excited about the move but we know we will miss all our family and friends. Right now we both (Nate and I) have 2 1/2 weeks of work left and then a week to finish getting the house packed and us moved. We are planning on packing up the van on May 25th and leaving our on May 26th.

I have been packing up for the last couple of weeks. This weekend Nate helped me move the stuff in the kitchen around and now I have a trash pile and a good will pile. There is no more eating on the kitchen table because it is being overtaken with boxes and stuff to get rid of.

23 Days and counting!
